Roberts is a quiet but effective and influential leader who is a hard worker on and off the field.

Community

Roberts spends time participating in a variety of community service events with the team and through his church. He participates in Reading Raiders, which is a reading program set-up by the athletic department with local elementary schools. He is also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee which also does a variety of service projects during the year.

Competition

Roberts received Third Team preseason All-American honors from Louisville Slugger and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. In 2009, he earned American Baseball Coaches Association and All-Ping! All-American honors. Roberts had a stellar junior campaign on the mound for the Blue Raiders posting an 11-1 record with a 3.04 ERA. He worked two complete games with 16 total appearances including a win over Vanderbilt at the NCAA Louisville Regional. In Sun Belt action, he had a 5-1 record with a 3.01 ERA in 10 appearances with 43 strikeouts in 68.2 innings of work. He was named Most Outstanding Player of the Sun Belt Championships after recording wins in his two appearances with a 2.08 ERA, allowing just three runs and one walk in 13 innings.
