Classroom

Jonathan recieved CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-ACC Academic Team honors in 2019-20. He has also earned ACC Honor Roll each year on campus, and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll each semester.

He works with Syracuse University’s ITS Service Center, where he oversees the student consultants on the projects.

Jonathan has also used his education for community work. In his IST 452 class, he oversaw a group of three students that performed a thorough risk analysis on a non-profit organization in Syracuse.

Character

Jonathan has been a leader on and off the field at Syracuse. He is in his second year of a two-year term as one of the ACC’s three representatives with voting power on the proposed NCAA rule changes under the Division 1 autonomy process. He is one of 15 NCAA Division I athletes in this voting process.

As one of the group’s ACC At-Large representatives, Jonathan attends quarterly ACC SAAC meetings to share perspectives from Orange student-athletes with colleagues from around the league. He also attends the annual ACC SAAC retreat to help shape goals and dirrection from the conference SAAC committee. He is also one of the student-athlete representatives on the ACC serach committee for next commissioner of the conference.

Jonathan is a member of the Inclusion Student-Athlete Board, which inspires and provides a forum for student-athletes to speak up for what they believe.

Community

Jonathan founded the SAAC Hoodie Drive, which prrovides hooded sweatshirts and warm clothing for the homeless in the Syracuse community during the winter months. He is a member of the Syracuse Chapter of Uplifting Athletes, which raises funds and awareness for rare diseases. Jonathan is also a member of the Student-Athlete Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board and SAAC, which has held numerous community service and outreach events.

He is a frequent in the Syracuse University OttoTHON, which benefits Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. He visits the hospital, making appearances at CNY’s only level one trauama and burn center, where patients sprayed him with paint from syringes to make custom canvas paintings.

Jonathan is a Boys and Girls Club Field Day volunteer. Syracuse University has hosted various Boys and Girls Club events and have held athletic activities, followed by a ‘lunch and learn’ session with student-athletes on how to succeed in the classroom.

Competition

Jonathan has 64 career tackles, 9.5 career sacks, and 12.5 career tackles for loss in 39 games. In 2018-19, he notched five sacks in Syracuse’s 10 win season and started in the Camping World Bowl.

Prior to 2019-20, he has been a three-time letterwinenr for Syracuse.
