Kyle Wimer

Classroom

Majoring in business technology information, Wimer possesses a 3.14 GPA and is set to graduate in May 2010. He has been a member of the Retriever Athletic 3.0 Club for the past four semesters.

Character

Wimer has been selected as the team captain for the 2010 lacrosse season. He has been recipient of the Glenn Thiel award for leadership ability, the 3D Award (Determination, Dedication, Desire), and also won the Outstanding Student-Athlete Grant from the Hempfield Lacrosse Booster Club.

Community

Wimer is the recipient of three Certificates of Appreciation by University of Maryland, Baltimore County for participating in the Mentoring Program. He worked with children at a local elementary school for two semesters. He also served as a tour guide for Mid-Day Madness, which brought in over 1,000 children to UMBC. He participated in the Great Prostate Cancer Run as well for two semesters.

Competition

An Inside Lacrosse Magazine 2010 pre-season first team All-America honoree, Wimer has been a solid performer for UMBC. Inside Lacrosse Magazine has also named Wimer to the pre-season All-America East team after earning All-American and All-America East honors in the 2009 campaign. He was also named to the All-Championship team of the 2009 America East tournament, and was a member of the 2007 America East All-Rookie team.
