Marcus Davenport is on pace to graduate with his undergraduate degree in December 2017.

Character

Davenport participated in the Annual Black Student-Athlete Summit at the University of Texas in January 2017. He is a member of UTSA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He also gave students from a local elementary school a tour of the UTSA campus in May 2017.

Community

Davenport is on the 2017 Wuerffel Trophy preseason watch list. He is a Rowdy Readers mentor at a local elementary school and had his head shaved to help raise money for pediatric cancer patients as part of St. Balderick’s Day. He also volunteered with the For The Kids (FTK) Dance Marathon. FTK is a student-run non-profit organization that raises money and provides emotional support for families affected by pediatric cancer. Davenport also served as a Dream Runners volunteer (local youth outreach program) and volunteered with a local school to help them participate in a parade at San Antonio’s annual Fiesta celebration.

Competition

Davenport is a 2017 preseason first-team All-Conference USA selection. In 2016, he was a second-team all-conference selection after posting 68 tackles, 10 TFLs, 6.5 sacks and eight QB hurries. In 2015, he was an honorable mention all-conference selection after registering 49 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, four sacks and four QB hurries. Davenport is the UTSA school record holder for career sacks (14.5 so far) and QB hurries (18) and has recorded 136 tackles, 21.5 TFLs, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery through 37 career games.
