Classroom
Ference earned his undergraduate degree in May of 2020, as well as his MBA last May. He was named to the All-MAC Academic Team twice.
He boasts a 3.6 GPA in pursuit of a second master’s in finance.
Character
Ference has been a member of Northern Illinois’ Leadership Council for the last three years.
He has also served as a team captain on numerous occasions.
Community
Ference is extremely active in the DeKalb-Sycamore communities. Since June 2017, he has accumulated 56.6 hours.
Competition
Ference is entering his fourth year the starting punter for the Huskies.
He holds the program record for career average (41.5), most punts in a season (86), most punts in a career (274), most punting yards in a season (3,473), and most punting yards in a career (11,715). Ference also owns the top three single season punting averages at Northern Illinois.
Roughly a third of his punts (88 of 274) have pinned opponents inside their own 20 yard line.
