Quinn, in pursuit of his master’s in engineering management, carries a 4.0 GPA. He was able to put together a perfect grade point average during the 2020-21 academic year, one filled with disruption and new challenges.

During the summer last year, Quinn was one of just two Southern Conference men’s lacrosse student-athletes to receive USILA Scholar All-America honors. For his work in the classroom, he was also named to both the Southern Conference’s Spring 2020 Academic All-Conference team and the league’s 2019-20 Honor Roll.

The 2019-20 academic year marked the third school year that Quinn was recognized on the SoCon’s Honor Roll, having received the honor the previous two years. He is also a three-time Academic All-Conference award winner.

Character

Quinn is a three-time captain, earning the honor the last three seasons due to his character. Mercer gives the captain designation to the top leader on the team.

Head Coach Surman has called Quinn a relentless worker and someone whose leadership helped transform the program. Surman also stated that Quinn practices what he preaches and is always willing to go above and beyond for his teammates.

Due to his work ethic and leadership, Mercer started the 2020 season 6-1, the best in program history.

Community

Quinn has volunteered for several organizations in the Macon community, including United in Pink, the Methodist Home, and the Mercer Miracle Foundation. Mercer’s men’s lacrosse program assists United in Pink in their mission to enhance the lives of breast cancer patients and survivors by volunteering at their 5K. They raise money each year.

Quinn, along with his teammates, also volunteer their time at the Methodist Home, where they serve children in the Macon area. He has been involved in the Donut Run 5K, which raises money for the home. The Methodist Home provides a safe environment for boys and girls who have been neglected or abused.

Recently, he was instrumental in helping the team raise $7,920 in partnership with MU Miracle, a student-led charitable organization at Mercer University. The $7,920 raised by Mercer men’s lacrosse benefitted the Beverly Knight Olson Hospital, a children’s hospital in Macon that will celebrate its second anniversary on Feb. 25, 2021.

Competition

Set to begin his fifth season with the Bears, Quinn has seen significant action since arriving at Mercer. Prior to the start of the 2021 season, he has tallied 76 total points, with 40 goals and 36 assists. He has also collected a total of 38 ground balls and forced 39 turnovers.

In 2020, despite the season being halted due to COVID-19, Quinn played in all seven contests with six starts and led the team with 12 assists, while finishing tied for second with 12 goals. He put together a pair of hat tricks and was fifth in the league in assists per game (1.71), seventh in points per game (3.43) and 10th in goals per game (1.71). Quinn was instrumental reason behind Bears jumping out to their best start in program history, 6-1, with the only loss being to nationally ranked North Carolina.

In 2019, Quinn had a breakout season as a junior. He earned the starting job in 13 matches and finished second among the team with 22 goals. For his efforts as a junior, he was named Mercer’s Offensive Player of the Year.
