Character

DePasquale’s role as the president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee has allowed her to reach out to the community in a variety different ways. She has looked for new ways to get involved with the community and support various causes. She has influenced so much, including; food drives, fund raisers, and Dodgeball tournaments. On the field, she displays an exemplary work ethic and is looked up to by everyone on the team. In addition to her strong hitting, she has become arguably the best defensive first baseman in school history.

Community

DePasquale has served as president of Hofstra’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the last two years. In October of 2008, she organized a “Think Pink” football game that helped raise $2,800 for breast cancer research. She also organized a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. She has also participated in many clinics with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Special Olympics. She helped organize the Hofstra softball team to sponsor a young girl with a brain tumor through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. She and her teammates also annually participate in the Adopt-A-Family program at Thanksgiving, where they provide a Thanksgiving dinner to a needy family. At home in New Jersey, she has volunteered at a senior citizen’s home and as a Ronald McDonald gift wrapper during Christmas.

Competition

DePasquale was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year last season after leading Hofstra to a first-place finish in the conference standings. She has been named to the All-Region team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in each of the last two years. She broke the school record for longest hitting streak at 25 straight games. DePasquale’s impressive offensive skills are not all that she has to offer. She did not commit a single error in the entire 2008 season at first base. DePasquale was also an All-Rookie selection and has been first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association as a sophomore and junior.
