Harris is a three-time Academic All-WAC selection, twice selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America All-District team. As a business finance major, he’s one of the top students in the Craig School of Business with a 3.67 grade point average. In the summer of 2008 he studied international finance in Hong Kong, attending classes with students from all over the world.  He recently concluded a summer internship program with Wells Fargo Regional offices.

Character

A team leader, Harris has been a leader by his hard work, compassion and his engaging personality. He has been elected and served two years as the president of Fresno State’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a student-run group the works with the administration to help create policy that better serves the needs of student-athletes. He’s a team tutor, working with other student-athletes on his team and in other sports. He was selected the winner of the first-ever Bulldog Spirit award, given by SAAC for contributions to the athletics department and university. He has represented Fresno State on the conference and national levels at conventions to discuss student-athlete issues. He has been the department and student spokesperson for many issues on the Fresno State campus.

Community

Harris is the team leader in organizing community service missions. Among those he’s been involved with are: Children’s Hospital Central California, READFresno, Team Smile, Fresno State Food Drives and many within his church. He’s the point person on his team for these events, helps coordinate the functions, and works to promote them through media and over venues. He was honored at Fresno State’s Night of Champions Gala for his academic achievements and community leadership.

Competition

Harris enters his senior season as a fourth-year starter at safety and is a valuable member of several special teams units. A 2009 preaseason All-WAC selection after earning second-team All-WAC honors after the 2008 season, he finished third on the team in 2008 in tackles with 75, and had 2.5 tackles for losses, one sack, broke up five passes, forced two fumbles and recovered one fumble. He has 146 career tackles, with 6 tackles for losses and an interception. One of his best games came in 2007 against Kansas State, when he had five tackles, broke up two passes and had an interception in leading his team to victory. Last season, he had a big game against UCLA with six tackles, one sack and batted down a pass in leading the Bulldogs to their first-ever win at the Rose Bowl. He has played in 38 games in his career, starting 26, and has guided the Dogs to consecutive bowl appearances.
