Character
Mulkey is very hard-working and driven in pursuit of her aspirations. As a leader in our program, she continues to show what it takes to have an exceptional work ethic. Mulkey had our lone freshman, who is recovering from ACL surgery, over for dinner and gave her helpful insights on how to manage dealing with an injury and the academic atmosphere of Rice. This is just a small example of the type of character she portrays within our program.
She is a young lady who is on the path to excelling to her highest potential.
Community
Mulkey served as a volunteer for Reliant Pediatric Therapy Services, where she assisted therapists and was responsible for watching patients at the end of their therapy sessions. She also assisted at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital.
Mulkey has also spent time at the Oklahoma City Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
Competition
Mulkey was this year’s C-USA preseason Player of the Year and was also named to the Lisa Leslie Award and Naismith Trophy national watch lists.
She is the two-time defending C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time C-USA first team selection. In 2018-19, Mulkey led the NCAA in blocks per game and currently ranks third in the NCAA among active players in career blocks and fourth in blocks per game. She has helped lead the Owls to back-to-back C-USA conference titles and played a big role in Rice advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2019.
