Classroom

Nate Solder graduated in May with a degree in biology and is now taking postgraduate courses in integrative physiology. Solder earned first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors the last three years and also achieved CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District status as a junior. He also received the Colorado University Dean Jacob Van Ek Award for academic excellence for the 2008 season.

Character

Solder is member of CU’s Gold Group Commitment Award group, which honors those who approach everything in life the right way. He’s also a candidate for a position as a team captain this fall.

Community

Solder participates in several of CU’s community service projects coordinated by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He’s been active in Read with the Buffs, a program for area fifth-graders, Buffalo Hugs, where players reach out to children and the elderly who have been hospitalized, and the Angel Tree project, which helps disadvantaged families enjoy a better Christmas holiday.

Competition

Solder has been named as a preseason All-American at offensive tackle by several organizations, including Playboy. As a junior he earned first-team All-Big 12 honors after leading the team in pancake/finishing blocks (97) and touchdown blocks (7) while playing an offensive-team high 850 snaps.
