Classroom

Nina Davis is pursuing a communication studies degree at Baylor University and is dedicated to her work in the classroom, earning Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition in 2013.

Character

Nina Davis is a team captain because she leads on and off the court. She strives to lead by example and consistently gives back to community. This quote speaks to her character outside of the basketball realm: “Nina is a natural leader. I think it all comes from her commitment to excellence and her integrity. When she says she is going to be a part of something you can count on her to do it.” - Baylor Director of Sports Ministry Wes Yeary

Community

Senior two-time All-American Nina Davis is certainly a leader on the court for the Lady Bears, but she is also a pillar in the community. She gives back each year, reading at elementary schools, speaking to youth at prisons, sharing her love for Christ through Fellowship of Christian Athletes, visiting patients in the hospital and NICU, and even going on summer mission trips to Brazil each year. Her platform as a Baylor student-athlete gives her a voice, and she’s not afraid to use it. She uses her status to have a positive impact. Davis wants to influence the lives of youth especially because of the guidance she received from others as a young person in Memphis, Tenn.

Competition

Davis, a three-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and 2015 Big 12 Player of the Year, netted a team-best 16.3 points per game and was one of two to lead the Lady Bears in rebounding, averaging 6.1 boards per contest last season. The two-time AP, USBWA, WBCA and Wooden All-American has been on three-straight Big 12 All-Tournament Teams and named Most Outstanding Player twice. Davis, who started all 38 games last year, has guided the Lady Bears to Big 12 regular season and tournament titles in three consecutive seasons. She has also been a finalist for the prestigious Wade Trophy and Wooden Award in the last two seasons. So far this year, Davis has been selected Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year, named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, and named a Preseason All-American by Lindy’s Sports Magazine and Athlon Sports Magazine.
