Nelson-Ododa is pursuing a degree in economics at UConn.
Character
In each of the last two seasons, Nelson-Ododa has stepped up as leader for a team with mostly underclassmen.
She helped rally the team last year during the pandemic-affected season while leading the Huskies to a 13th-straight NCAA Final Four and both the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles.
Community
Nelson-Ododa has willingly dedicated her time to the Storrs community. She serves on UConn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and helped put together a voting initiative with her teammates that taught the importance of voting.
She has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. In addition, Nelson-Ododa has been involved with the program’s Team IMPACT teammate, Daniela, who joined in 2018.
Competition
Entering her fourth season with the Huskies, Nelson-Ododa has been named to the Naismith, Wooden, Wade, and Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch Lists. She is also a preseason all-conference selection.
Nelson-Ododa was the 2021 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and is a two-time All-BIG EAST second team selection. She sits eighth in program history for career blocks.
