Preston is pursuing a degree in sport industry at Ohio State.

He was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and an AHCA Scholar All-American in his sophomore season. Preston is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten and three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete recipient.

He is on pace to graduate this spring and plans to pursue a job in sports marketing or sports management for either a professional team or individual athlete after the conclusion of his hockey career.

Character

Preston enters his second year as an alternate captain for the Buckeyes, as selected by his teammates.

At the end of the day, we all want points, but for him, it’s about the wins and it’s about the team.”

Community

Preston traveled to Costa Rica on a service learning trip through the Ohio State Department of Athletics after his freshman year. He participating in mentoring young children, cleaning up a beach, and helping in a school while on the trip.

Preston has also worked at Ohio State hockey camps during the summer.

Competition

Throughout his career in the Scarlet and Gray, Preston has played in 102 games. He’s only missed three games through his first three-plus years.

Preston has tallied 55 points between 27 goals and 28 assists, while also blocking 80 shots. He was named an Honorable Mention Big Ten Player to Watch for both 2020-21 and 2021-22.

Preston was a member of the Buckeye team that went on to win the 2019 Big Ten regular season title and an NCAA tournament berth.
