Rachael maintains a 3.70 GPA in business management with a primary concentration in general management and a second concentration in honors business. She has earned Presidential Honors in Spring 2017, is a three-time earner of C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll and the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal, which is awarded to student athletes with a GPA of 3.75 or higher in a semester.

Character

Rachael has shown the utmost character both on the court and off showing class, leadership and humility to those around her. Head coach Randy Norton describes her as one of the biggest character athletes who is an outstanding representative of the UAB women’s basketball program and of UAB.

Community

Rachael has made her presence known in the Birmingham community, logging 69 hours of community service that includes volunteering at the YMCA, Miracle League, Habitat for Humanity, Children’s of Alabama and local Birmingham elementary schools. She was one of 14 student athletes in the conference honored with the C-USA Spirit of Service Award in Spring 2019 for her work in the community, classroom and on the court.

Competition

Rachael is one of the top shooting guards in the entire country. The senior has been a four-year starter for UAB earning Freshman of the Year honors in 2016-17 and All-Conference honors in 2017-18 and 2018-19. She was selected to the preseason All-Conference team for 2019-20. Childress is the NCAA active leader in career three-pointers made, holds the UAB record with 320 and is third all-time in C-USA history. She is second in the NCAA in career three-point FG per game, fourth in career three-point field goal attempts and 10th in career three-point FG percentage.
