Classroom

Flanigan was a finalist for the Merrimack Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2010-11. He is a three-time Hockey East All-Academic team member and was named Hockey East All-Academic All-Star in 2010-11. He has been a Dean’s List selection for five semesters and a President’s List honoree. Flanigan maintains 3.6 GPA.

Character

Flanigan received the team’s Unsung Hero award in 2010-11. He was voted assistant captain by his teammates and is a three-year representative on the SAAC. He has worked on campus for two straight summers, one for building and grounds, and one with the athletic director.

Community

Flanigan is an active member in open skates, sponsored by the hockey team during season. He brought the “Teddy Bear Toss” concept to Merrimack with all bears donated to Boys and Girls Club. He worked the MIAA high school state championship hockey games at Merrimack.

Competition

Flanigan was a Hockey East All-Championship and All-Tournament team member in March of 2011, leading Merrimack to its first-ever Hockey East Championship game and first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1988. He was the Hockey East Co-Player of the Month for March, 2011. He set career highs in goals (16), assists (18), points (34) and plus/minus (+24) in 2010-11. He ranked fourth on team scoring and led all Hockey East players in postseason scoring. Merrimack was 16-4 when he recorded a point. He recorded 28 points in the team’s last 19 games.
