Character

Coffman is a leader by example who works hard to be as successful off the field as he is on it. He had to sit out as a true-freshman and take a redshirt season to work on his abilities. After that season, Coffman came in and made an impact on his team for the last three seasons.

Community

Coffman has put in almost 35 hours of community service during his time at New Mexico State. He as helped with such activities as Dress a Kid and Clean Up Projects. One thing Coffman and the baseball team have done for the past three years is put on a clinic and play a game for mentally-disabled kids in Las Cruces.

Competition

Coffman earned 2012 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America third-team honors after a spectacular 2011 season that saw him tie the school record with nine saves on the year. He heads into the 2012 season ranked second in the NM State record books with 14 career saves. He finished last year with a 3-0 record and a 1.88 ERA while earning first-team All-WAC honors. He’s the first Aggies pitcher to earn first-team all-conference honors in any of their league affiliations throughout the years. In league play last year, Coffman posted a 1.31 ERA with four saves and 16 strikeouts against just 15 hits in 20.2 innings.
