Classroom
Scott Tolzien maintains a 3.50 GPA in consumer affairs. In 2009 he was honored as a Big Ten Distinguished scholar and an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Character
One of the leaders of this year’s team, Tolzien is likely to be announced as a captain. Tolzien entered last year’s fall camp as the No. 3 quarterback but worked his way up and earned the starting position.
Community
Tolzien is very heavily involved in visits to Children’s Hospital and grammar schools both in Madison and his hometown of Rolling Meadows, Ill. From these visits, Tolzien has befriended a young boy, who has cancer, and has invited him to practices and visited him in the hospital.
Competition
As a junior Tolzien was an honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection after leading the conference in pass efficiency. Tolzien also set a school record for single-season completions (211) and his 2,705 passing yards ranked second in Badger history.
