Shane Williams-Rhodes is working toward his bachelor’s degree in marketing while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average above 3.0. Williams-Rhodes has twice been honored on the Academic All-Mountain West Team (2013 and 2014).

Character

Williams-Rhodes is one of the most popular and respected members of the Boise State football team among coaches, teammates and fans. His positive personality and humility have led to him being named to the 2015 preseason watch lists for honors—the Wuerffel Trophy and Allstate AFCA Good Hands Team—that focus on the character aspects of candidates, as well as to the Paul Hornung Award and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch lists.

Community

Williams-Rhodes is one of the most-requested Bronco student-athletes for community outreach events. He serves as Boise State Football’s primary speaker at grade school and junior high assemblies and mentors at-risk youth involved in the Boise-area Optimist Youth Football Program. Williams-Rhodes also is a 2015 preseason candidate for the Wuerffel Trophy and the Allstate AFCA Good Hands Team, which each honor student-athletes for their performances on the field and in the community.

Competition

Williams-Rhodes has been a fixture in the Boise State offense throughout his career. A two-time All-Mountain West Honorable Mention selection (2013, 2014), he posted two of the top 10 receptions totals in school history with 77 in 2013 and 68 in 2014. Entering his senior season in 2015, Williams-Rhodes, at 170 career receptions, is fifth on Boise State’s career list, needing 75 catches to become the school’s all-time leader.

Williams-Rhodes is a triple threat as a receiver, rusher and returner, leading Boise State last year in receptions (68) and touchdown catches (seven) while racking up 585 receiving yards and 179 on the ground. On special teams he averaged 8.5 yards over a team-high 18 punts returns. He finished 2014 tied for second in the Mountain West with his seven touchdown grabs, and his 68 catches ranked fourth.
