Kelly earned his bachelor’s degree in both exercise and sports science and business management in December of 2020.

He was named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America first team and has also been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team twice and Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List five times.

He is currently pursuing an MBA.

Character

Kelly is a two-time team captain for Coastal Carolina.

He was named the 2020 Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year and was named to both the 2019 Wuerffel Trophy and 2021 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch Lists.

Community

Kelly has been integral in several of Coastal Carolina’s community events.

He has volunteered with ‘A Night to Shine’ and ‘Caring for Kindergarteners.’ Kelly has assisted with the running of a special needs play day at Myrtle Beach High School, as well as a career day at an elementary school in North Myrtle Beach. Additionally, Kelly discussed faith and Christianity at University Christian High School in Jacksonville when the Chanticleers were displaced for two weeks due to Hurricane Florence during the season.

Kelly has also read to children at various schools around the Conway and Myrtle Beach area.

Competition

Kelly has enjoyed a tremendous career at Coastal Carolina. He ranks in the top-10 in program history in total tackles, solo tackles, and assisted tackles. One year after leading the Chanticleers in tackles, he is currently pacing team again.

In 2020, Kelly was named the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year and an All-Sun Belt second team selection.

Kelly was also named a two-time All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention (2017-2018).
