Classroom

Baker earned his undergraduate degree in life sciences communications from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten skater.

He is now studying education leadership and policy analysis as a graduate student.

Character

Baker enters his fifth season as a team captain after serving as an alternate captain the previous two years.

Hailing from Verona, Wisconsin, Baker bleeds Badger red as a local. He has played in every game during his five-year career except for a four-game absence due to COVID-19 protocols.

Community

Baker has been an extremely active participant in the Madison area.

He has volunteered at the UW Children’s Hospital for Caleb’s Pitch, a project where he made syringe art with patients. Baker has also participated with The Special Olympics’ ‘The Ride,’ which raises funds for the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

In addition, Baker has worked with the UW Shoe Project, where he provided shoes to a needy family and spent time participating in school visits the summer before his freshman season.

Competition

In his career as a Badger, Baker has tallied 26 goals and 40 assists for 66 points through 145 career games played.

He has had differing roles each season, scoring 10 goals as a freshman and recording 20-point seasons in his first two. Baker has since moved into a checking role the previous two years.

He received the Super Family Unsung Hero Award in 2018-19 and the Jim Santulli 7th Man Award in 2020-21.
