Ward is pursuing a degree in business administration at Omaha. He carries a 3.28 GPA.

He has been on the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team in each of his first three years. Ward was also selected to the Dean’s List, and as an NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, as a freshman.

Character

Even in the face of adversity, Ward has shown tremendous leadership at Omaha.

He suffered a significant leg injury that forced him to have season-ending surgery just after making the NCHC All-Rookie Team. Ward was selected as an assistant captain by his teammates and coaches while rehabbing to start his junior season. He then led the Mavericks to a top-15 ranking and an NCAA tournament appearance.

Ward is serving as an assistant captain again this season.

Community

Ward has consistently supporting charitable and community activities while at Omaha.

He has made frequent visits to local children’s hospitals and worked as a floor hokey referee for the Omaha Special Olympics. Ward is also active in the Mavericks’ partnership with Team IMPACT. Omaha has had a four-year partnership with Isaac Barchus, who is batting CANDLE Syndrome.

Competition

Heading into November, Ward is the NCAA leader in both total goals and power-play goals while also ranking second in total points. He was recently named the National Player of the Month by the Hockey Commissioner’s Association after being named Player of the Month by the NCHC.

Ward has been Omaha’s top goal scorer the last three seasons while helping the Mavericks go from nine wins in his freshman campaign to a current top-10 ranking this year.
