Classroom

Hiller has carried a 4.0 GPA his entire scholastic career.  He earned his undergraduate degree in business and marketing in August of 2008 and will complete his MBA during the summer of 2010.  He was named first team Academic All-District by ESPN the Magazine in 2008 and is a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree.

Character

Hiller is of high character and that is based on his devotion to his faith. He founded the WMU Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter and conducts meetings every Wednesday night on campus.  He speaks to churches throughout the Kalamazoo area and recently spent his spring break on a faith-based mission to Trinidad with a group of 23 college students.  His character translates to his leadership on the field and in the locker room with his teammates.

Community

Hiller works with local high school students on a weekly basis throughout the school year, tutoring them in math and English.  This is done outside of the mandatory community service hours for the team each semester.  During the team’s bowl trip to Houston, he spent time with kids at a children’s hospital.  During his mission, he spoke with children in youth prisons, conducted prayer sessions for families, worked with kids on arts and crafts and helped clear an area for the rebuilding of a rectory in a nearby village.

Competition

Hiller broke the WMU single-season records for total offensive yards (3,727), total offensive plays (560), passing yards (3,725), attempts (522), completions (339) and touchdowns (36) in 2008. He also broke the WMU game records for passing yards (471), attempts (63) and completions (42).  He has the second most 300-yard passing games in WMU history (12).  Hiller is the MAC’s active leader in career passing touchdowns (76) and passing yards, attempts, completions, passing TDs, TDs (scored or passed) and total offensive plays in a season.
