Classroom

Trace McSorley graduated with a degree in accounting in May 2018 and is working toward a second degree in journalism. He owns a 3.31 grade-point average and is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He spent the summer of 2017 interning for Merrill Lynch and Bank of America in State College.

Character

McSorley is a two-time team captain, as voted on by his teammates and the coaching staff. He is a true leader, guiding the Nittany Lions to a Big Ten Championship in his first season as a starter. He demonstrates integrity and the willingness to learn each and every day.

Community

McSorley served as the president of the Penn State Uplifting Athletes chapter in 2017 and was the Vice President in 2018, helping increase the total the chapter has raised since the first Penn State Lift for Life was held in 2003 to nearly $1.3 million for kidney cancer treatment and research. He has participated in THON events, Hershey Hospital visits and a variety of other community service projects.

Competition

McSorley was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and garnered honorable mention All-America honors from SB Nation in 2017. He is a two-time second-team All-Big Ten honoree from the coaches and media voters. In 2017, he was named a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Manning Award and a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award. In 2016, he was named to the ESPN.com Big Ten All-Bowl Team and was selected as the Grange-Griffin Most Valuable Player as MVP of the Big Ten Championship Game. He was also named honorable mention Campus Insiders Sophomore All-America.
