Travis Beckum

University of Wisconsin
Tight End

Travis is on his way to earning his degree this coming December. He maintains a 2.60 GPA and has been working hard to graduate in just over 4 years.

Travis came to Wisconsin as one of the highest rated linebacker recruits in the country. After seeing action mostly on special teams as a freshman, he approached the coaches about moving to tight end in order to help the team. In two years as a tight end he has re-written the record books at Wisconsin. He had the opportunity to declare for the NFL Draft and was projected as a first-round draft pick but he elected to return to school to earn a degree from UW.

Has taken part in “Football Fridays” at the University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital and also visits the hospital again before Saturday home games.

Travis was a finalist for the Mackey Award last year, given to the top tight end in the country. In the 2008 preseason, Travis was named to the Walter Camp, John Mackey and Maxwell Award watch lists. First-team All-American, All-Big Ten by Athlon Sports, Lindy’s Second-team All-American, First-team All-Big Ten by Phil Steele, and First-team All-Big Ten by Blue Ribbon College Yearbook. He was also a First-team All-America selection by Walter Camp and Rivals.com after leading the nation’s tight ends with 982 receiving yards.
