Character
Lindley, who went through the NFL evaluation process but chose to return to Kentucky for his senior season, has built a reputation as a man of action but few words. In an era when cornerbacks tend to do a lot of trash talking, Lindley lets his play do the talking. He has always felt that you do your loudest talking with an interception or key tackle. His off-the-field conduct has been exemplary and because of his leadership skills on and off the field, he was voted MVP by his teammates last season.
Community
Lindley has been an active member in UK’s “Cats that Care” service program during his four years as a Wildcat. He has volunteered to clean rooms at the Ronald McDonald House and has participated in several events for children, including a youth football clinic and a Valentine’s Day party at the UK Children’s Hospital. He has also served as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.
Competition
Lindley was a second-team All-American last season and a consensus first-team All-SEC choice. He had four interceptions and 11 pass breakups, leading the SEC in pass breakups per game. He holds the UK career record for pass breakups with 34. Lindley was chosen the nation’s No. 1 cornerback by Lindy’s College Football preseason magazine and was a first-team preseason All-America selection for the 2009 season by NationalChamps.net. He also is a first-team preseason All-SEC pick by the media and league coaches. He has started every game of his collegiate career, 39 consecutive.
