Classroom

Irwin carries a 3.8 GPA at South Dakota State and is a pre-chiropractic student. She plans to go to chiropractic school and added a few business classes during her fifth year to assist in her future with a chiropractic clinic.

Irwin has been named to the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence three times and the Summit League Honor Roll four times.

Character

Irwin is entering her second season as the team captain for South Dakota State. She is well respected and trusted by her peers with the responsibilities that come with such a role. Irwin has a strong work ethic and is happy to take on any role that leads to the success of the team.

Community

Irwin currently serves as a Brookings County Youth Mentor, which allows her to spend time with and be a role model to a child in Brookings. She had sought out this role independently because she wants to be involved in making a difference in the community.

Irwin is also a leader in team service projects that include working at the Boys and Girls Club, reading at local elementary schools, and serving at the food pantry.

Competition

Irwin capped off a terrific season last year by averaging 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, earning all-conference first team honors along the way. She crossed the 1,000 career point threshold last February and is nearing her 500th rebound, as well.

Irwin started 20 games for the Jackrabbits as they went 14-0 in conference play to win the Summit League.
