Tyler Gibson

Classroom

Gibson was named First-team NSCAA Scholar All-American last season. Two-time A-10 Academic All-Conference selection. Two-time NSCAA Scholar All-South Region selection. Named first-team CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District last season. Will Graduate in December, 2013. Has a 3.823 cumulative GPA.

Character

Gibson has been a team leader for the past several years. Helps organize team offseason workouts over the summer. One of the hardest working players on the 49ers team. He is a student-athlete with high integrity and a tremendous work ethic.

Community

This year Gibson is vice president of Charlotte’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Been a four-year member of SAAC. Attended 2013 NFL-NCAA Life Skills Summit. Volunteered for the past four years with FCCA Soccer League. Helped run several youth soccer clinics. Read to students at several university area elementary schools over his career. In 2010, he volunteered with Samaritan’s Feet.

Competition

Gibson is a three-time first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection. Two-time first-team NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection. 2010 A-10 Midfielder and Rookie of the Year. Named to the 2012 A-10 All-Tournament team. Helped the 49ers in his career reach the 2011 College Cup Championship game, capture two Atlantic 10 regular-season titles and make two NCAA Tournament appearances. Named to the 2012 Hermann Award Watch list.
