Yoeli Childs is on track to graduate in April 2020 after four years in college.

Character

Childs tested the NBA Draft following his sophomore and junior seasons and decided to return to school. He valued the opportunity to graduate and spending one more season with his teammates despite lucrative opportunities to play professional basketball.

Community

Childs has spoken with youth at the Salt Lake City Detention Center about making positive life choices. He has served food at a soup kitchen in Salt Lake and participated in the Mac’s Gift Children’s Foundation (an organization that provides Christmas presents for families with children with cancer) Christmas party every year at BYU. Childs has helped promote the Rex Lee Run (BYU 5K that raises money for cancer research) and the Be Brave Baylee Foundation (runs a camp for child burn survivors).

Competition

Childs was named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team as a sophomore and junior. He was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team in 2016-17 and earned All-District honors from the USBWA and NABC his sophomore and junior seasons. He is also a three-time WCC Player of the Week and earned NCAA National Player of the Week honors as a junior. Yoeli has career averages of 16.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks. He is 14th all-time in scoring, 5th in rebounds, fifth in blocks and T-3rd in double-doubles in BYU history.
