Classroom

Solow had a 3.56 GPA last spring to help lead the Huskies in the classroom.

Character

Solow earned the captaincy this season and is the leader on and off the ice for the Huskies. He has embraced his role at showing the freshman how to be a leader.

He will go down as one of the best leaders in Northeastern history and has done a great job keeping the team together during the offseason, heaving dealt with more adversity off the ice than any captain in program history.

Community

Solow has spent countless hours participating in community service while at Northeastern. During the 2019-20 season, he volunteered at move-ins, taught kids to skate in Belfast, participated in the team holiday skate and doy drive for the Jimmy Fund, and read at elementary schools for Read Across America Day.

During the 2018-19 season, Solow volunteered at move-ins, read to students at elementary schools, brought the Beanpot to the Jimmy Fund and spent time with kids undergoing treatment, and participated in Hockey East’s Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative, raising $2300 from auctioning off jerseys from the Skating Strides game.

Solow and Northeastern participated in “Movember” and did their own fundraiser called “Mustaches for Macleod.” During this fundraiser, money was rasied for former player Wade MacLeod and his battle against brain cancer. Tables were set up in the the lobby for all home games during November to promote the cause, as well as on team and player social media accounts.

Solow and Northeastern also partnered with Northeastern’s Love Your Melon Crew to host a Superhero Adventure for Jack Berry, an 11-year-old battling osteosarcoma. The team “adopted” Jack and he attends many practices and games, and the players have visited Jack at the Children’s Hospital severeal times, where he is undergoing treatment. On February 1, 2020, fans made cards for Jack, as well as Carly Silva, a local 12-year-old hockey player diagnosed with cancer. The team sent Carly a Christmas card, jersey, and have invited her to attend games when she’s feeling better.

Competition

Solow continually leads the Huskies in total points and was a huge part in Northeastern winning a third straight Beanpot Championship last season. He was the Beanpot MVP and was on the Hockey East All-Tournament Team in 2019.
