Classroom

Zack Moss is a communication major and is on track to graduate from Utah in December, 2019. He will be the first in his family to graduate college, which is one of the reasons he chose to forego an NFL career for another year and return to school. He is a three-time member of the Athletic Director Honor Roll.

Character

Moss is a member of Utah Football’s leadership council. To quote Running Backs Coach Kiel McDonald, “Zack isn’t always a vocal leader, but leads more by example. He leads by action and work ethic. Zack does a great job helping our younger players understand what the standard is in the room and the schemes we are running.”

Community

Moss has participated in events with the Crimson Council, Utah’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He created a friendship with students from a local special-needs school in West Valley, Utah, during his freshman year that has extended throughout his career. Whenever they visit campus, he takes the students on tours, signs autographs, plays football with them and teaches them what it means to be a team player.

Competition

A national awards candidate, Moss is one of four players in Utah history with two 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He is on track to break 3,000 career rushing yards as well as the school record that has stood for 30 years. Moss currently ranks fifth among active FBS players in rushing yards and among the top 10 among active players in rushing scores. He has 12 career 100-yard rushing games including a career-high 211 rushing yards against UCLA in 2018. Moss was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2018 in an injury-shortened season in which he missed five games. He ranked sixth in the Pac-12 in rushing yards (1,096) in 2018, averaging 121.77 yards per game. Moss ranked seventh in the league in rushing yards as a sophomore in 2017 (1,173).
