Middle Blocker
Exercise Science

Abbie Lehman graduated in May 2017 with a degree in exercise science. She was named the Wichita State exercise science undergraduate of the year in 2017 and has a 3.81 cumulative grade-point average. She earned first-team All-Valley Scholar-Athlete honors in 2015 and 2016.

Lehman is currently working on her master’s degree in exercise science and will graduate in December 2018. She also passed the CPT ACE exam and is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and is currently working a few hours a week at Williamson Wellness Center.

Lehman has always been a very hard worker. She grew up working hard on a farm, and she continues that work ethic at WSU by going to the gym and working hard, giving it her all every day. The older she’s become in the program, the more of a leader she has become, especially her junior and senior year. She has been a great communicator and taken a very positive and strong leadership position, which has greatly helped the team.

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Lehman has learned what her weaknesses are, and a lot of those weaknesses have become strengths because of her hard work and focus. She’s also extremely competitive and is the same on the court and in the classroom, approaching both the same way. She is driven in both areas and has a great reputation with her professors because she cares so much about the classroom, the work she is doing, her goals in her career and what she wants to do after graduation.

Lehman has served her community in a variety of ways. The list includes the following events and organizations: Top Learning Center, Allen Elementary Walk-a-Thon, WSU Athletics Pen Pal Program, Princeton Children’s Center, Maize Central Elementary, YMCA Pancake Feed, Maize South Elementary, The Lord’s Diner, Fast Fours and the Little Spikers Volleyball Program and Junior Spikers Volleyball Program.
