Character

From head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch: “Her teammates absolutely love her.  She is the ideal teammate – very respectful, encouraging positive, works extremely hard.  She has put in so many extra hours of setter training to get to where she is at. When she came in as a freshman, we wouldn’t even let her set a lot of the time on the scout side because she was pretty far behind.  When she did play – she came in and almost always missed her serve because she was so nervous (one serve actually hit OUR 10’ line!)  She has worked incredibly hard to go from that into a first-team All-America.”

From fellow senior Jamie Straube: “The first thing that comes to mind is Alison’s desire to include everyone on the team. As a setter, it is imperative that she knows each player’s personality so she can motivate them to reach her full potential. By getting to know each of her teammates, she knows how each girl responds to criticism, praise, and pressure situations. Alison takes it upon herself to make sure each girl is comfortable on the court, ensuring our team’s success. I always notice this trait when subs are entered into the game. Alison makes it a point to talk to the entered player and give her information about the current rotation. By reaching out to the player entering the match, Alison eases her nerves and gives her confidence.”

Landwehr has been involved in the following community service activities: Kids clinic, Dr. Seuss Day at Gilbert Elementary, Carnival at Fellows Elementary, flood recovery and children’s hospital visits.
