Classroom

Amanda DaCosta is pursuing a degree in sport management at Florida State. She was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll following the 2009-10 school year and is a member of the Dean’s List (earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the 2009 fall semester). She achieved over a 3.0 GPA following the spring 2010 semester.

Character

Florida State head coach Mark Krikorian on the character of senior captain DaCosta: “Amanda has had a fantastic career here at Florida State. On the field, she has distinguished herself as one of the premier players in the country. If she has the same sort of senior year as she did her first three years, she will clearly be a first-round pick in the WPS. I would expect her to have the same impact in the WPS as former Seminole greats like Becky Edwards and Mami Yamaguchi. In the classroom, she has done very well. Last year, she achieved a GPA of over 3.0 and has worked diligently at her studies to become the best student she can be. In terms of leadership, she was named captain as a senior and my expectations are that she will fall right in line with those who served the same role in the past – to lead this team and be a role model for the younger members of this team both on the field, in the classroom and in the community.”

Community

DaCosta has been an active participant in the community during her time at Florida State volunteering at the following events: Relay for Life; Dance Marathon; True Seminole Tailgate (Alcohol Free); Paint it Pink Game; free soccer instruction clinics; FCAT (created inspirational/motivational cards for elementary kids); Thanksgiving Holiday Food Drive; and the ALS Awareness Night at Dick Howser Stadium.

Competition

As a junior, DaCosta was NSCAA All-Southeast Region Second Team, second-team All-ACC, a member of the ACC All-Tournament team, a preseason MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List candidate, and a second-team Soccer America preseason All-American. She became just the second three-time All-ACC honoree at Florida State. She finished the season fourth on the team in points (13) with three goals and seven assists and second on the team with three game-winning assists.
