She is a three-time Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete and has been named to the MWC All-Academic Team the past three years. She has been honored as an SDSU Scholar-Athlete each of her six semesters at San Diego State. She will graduate in May 2013 and wants to pursue a career in research & design in the area of physics or math. She is also considering pursuing a master’s degree in a physics-related area.

Character

Hannasch was a team captain during her junior year and will serve in that capacity again as a senior. She is one of the team leaders when the squad holds local youth clinics at nearby YMCAs and schools. She is also organizing a major charitable project for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) this coming year. On the court, she has been bothered by nagging injuries every season, but has managed to play in every match during her three-year career. Those injuries caused her to miss spring practice the past two years.

Community

Hannasch will enter her third year as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) this fall. As a junior she was the treasurer of the SAAC and this coming year will serve as the group’s vice-president. She was involved in the SAAC blood drive during her sophomore year and last year organized the Red/Black Games for SDSU student-athletes, a task she will undertake this coming year as well. She is also the coordinator and organizer of Soles for Souls, a shoe drive to benefit the local community. She serves as a coach with the 15’s team for Club Pacific volleyball club in San Diego. She has also tutored student members of that club in math and science. Hannasch has also worked volunteer youth clinics at local YMCAs as well as the Monarch Schools.

Competition

Hannasch was named an honorable mention AVCA All-American in 2011 and was a member of the All-West Regional squad as well. She is a two-time all-Mountain West Conference selection. She has earned MWC Player of the Week honors during each of her three seasons as an Aztec. Entering the 2012 season, Hannasch ranks seventh in career block assists at SDSU and has finished among the top five in blocks in the Mountain West Conference each of the past three years. In 2011 she ranked among the top 10 in the MWC in kills, hitting percentage, blocks and points.
