Classroom

Grant enters her senior year as a double major in mathematics and computer science, possessing a 3.85 and 3.92 GPA within each program respectively.  Three times she has been a member of Siena College’s 4.0 Club for achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the given semester. She has been named to Siena College’s President’s List four times and to the Dean’s List following the Fall 2013 semester. Grant has been named to both the MAAC All-Academic and Academic Honor Roll Teams in each year of eligibility. This spring she was inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the National Honor Society in Mathematics. Grant has interned full-time at Liberty Mutual each of the past two summers, first as a business analyst and then again this summer in the IT department. With Liberty Mutual, she has also participated in “Serve With Liberty,” a company opportunity for helping out in the community. Grant has also served as a student athlete tutor in both mathematics and computer science at Siena. Thanks in large part to her personal performance in the classroom, Siena’s women’s soccer program received an NSCAA Team Academic Award last fall for posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.44.

Character

Grant was elected a team captain for the upcoming season. Says head coach Steve Karbowski on Grant’s character, “Anna is one of the most focused and committed players I have ever coached. She strives for perfection both academically and athletically with her tireless work ethic and never takes or looks for a shortcut. She has achieved a 4.0 in multiple semesters while balancing her athletic commitment. Anna is the quiet leader of the team who leads by example and has earned the respect of all around her.”

Community

Grant has been an active participant in numerous Siena Athletics’ “Saints in the Community” department initiatives. She has participated in Siena’s annual Festa Vino fundraiser, cooked dinner at the local Ronald McDonald House, read to local elementary students and taught soccer to a local gym class. Independently, last year she helped to clear a development to be able to build a home for people in need. This summer she helped clean up an old Coast Guard building and repainted it to be a place for parents who can’t afford child care to leave their kids while they are at work. She has also coached five soccer camps – some overnight and some day camps – for Seacoast United, while working as a manager at a restaurant.

Competition

Grant has quarterbacked the Saints’ backfield as a full-time center back the past two and a half seasons. She has appeared in and started all 39 of the team’s matches the last two falls and played every minute of every match in 2013 en route to being named a Second Team All-MAAC selection. Grant registered a career-high three assists last fall from her backfield position as she helped guide the Saints to 11 wins and a MAAC Semifinals appearance. Grant was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2011 and was a Preseason All-MAAC selection prior to last season.
