Character

Brown was elected captain of the 2010 Yale soccer team by her teammates. Yale only allows one captain for each of its 35 varsity sports and Brown was the choice of her peers.

Community

Brown volunteers at the Neighborhood Center for underprivileged children. She also works at the St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center, tending to patients needs, keeping them company and encouraging them to overome pain during recovery. She has volunteered at many youth soccer clinics in Los Angeles, New Jersey and the Pali Blues Soccer Camp and speaks at various middle schools encouraging children to stay in school and participate in sports. Brown has been a participant in Yale’s Relay For Life for the past three years and is considering participation in Teach For America following graduation.

Competition

Brown enters her senior season with 25 career goals, 14 shy of the Yale school record. She is tied for fifth in career assists (17) and sixth in career points (67). She was the 2009 Ivy League Player of the Year, only the third player in Yale history to earn Ivy Player of the Year honors and the first since Jen Teti in 1993. She was an NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region second team selection as well. Her 13 goals were second in the Ivy League and tied for the fourth most in a season in Yale history. Her 30 points were also second in the league and the fourth most in a season in school history. Brown was a second team All-Ivy selection as a sophomore.
