Classroom

Chandra Parr will graduate in May with a degree in accounting from UE. She has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.51, earning four semesters on the dean’s list, as well as NFCA Scholar-Athlete accolades in 2016 and MVC Softball Scholar Athlete honorable mention honors in 2015 and 2016. In addition to her classwork, Parr has held multiple internship positions and was honored as Springleaf Financial’s V.I.P in July 2015 for exceeding new money and loan goals for the organization.

Character

Parr is a leader both on and off the field. She leads her team by example, working hard every day during practices and competition, and is always willing to play wherever she is needed for the benefit of the team. During her freshman year, Parr was named first-team all-conference as an outfielder. And in her sophomore year, with a new coaching staff, she was asked to play multiple positions: outfield, 2nd base, 3rd base and shortstop. She did this without hesitation, never asking questions or complaining. Junior year saw her embrace the role of an infielder, while still preparing for the occasional outfield appearance. She, again, saw her hard work pay off, earning first-team all-conference honors. Her hard work also is evident through her success in the classroom and while completing internships. She continues to mentor her younger teammates, as well as the youth softball players at camps.

Community

Parr has become increasingly involved in the community each year, both at school and at home. She spends time each December with her teammates at the Toys for Tots warehouse, creating gift and stocking combinations for hundreds of children. Dressing to the theme, she has attended holiday parties at Gilda’s Club, assisting with a variety of games and entertainment for the children in attendance. Parr has been involved with 23 different organizations during her time at Evansville, returning to many of the same organizations multiple years. Averaging 45 hours per year, she was instrumental in helping the softball team earn top community service honors among athletics at UE in 2014 and 2015, encouraging her teammates to continue to volunteer and assisting the coaching staff with finding events for the team to attend.

Competition

Chandra Parr is a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team player, earning the honors in 2014 and 2016. In between, she was a MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention selection in 2015. In 2016, Parr was a starter in all of her 47 games, hitting .300 with six home runs and 23 RBIs while scoring 24 runs. She played a pivotal part in one of the top 10 turnarounds in the NCAA in 2016, helping the Aces improve their win total from 10 to 24. She also played a pivotal role in the team winning its first conference series in three seasons. Evansville went on to win four league series in a row and five out of six to finish the season.
