Classroom

Harrell, now in her fifth year at Marshall, is working on her post baccalaureate in the College of Science.

Character

Harrell started her career with The Herd as a quiet leader. She has since become much more vocal and is a member of the team that the underclassmen look up to. Harrell has a good attitude at all times and is one of the first to celebrate her teammates’ success.

Community

Harrell has volunteered with multiple organizations in Huntington—with two being the VA Hospital and the Hoops Children’s Hospital. She has also spent time with the Huntington Little League and acts as a role model for the girls on the team.

Harrell volunteers at the local animal shelter as well, where she loves walking the dogs. In addition to her other efforts, Harrell helps out with the Marshall Sweetheart Clinic. Along with her student-athletes, she works with younger girls from the area and teaches them about the sport they play. Lastly, Harrell volunteers with Marshall Softball’s Lil Sis Program, where she is a pen pal with some of the younger girls.

Competition

Harrell has been a star for The Herd and continues to receive praise for her play. She is both a three-time all-conference first team selection and NFCA All-Mideast Region pick, earning first team honors last year. In her first season with Marshall, Harrell was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year after setting the program record for home runs (11) for a first-year player. She also led the nation in walks (68), setting a program record and tying for the 19th-most in NCAA history.

Harrell is Marshall’s career leader in OBP (.547) and sits second in walks (131) and home runs (40). She also ranks third in SLG (.740), fourth in batting average (.375), and sixth in RBI (133).
