Coppin State setter Chelsee Sauni is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology while holding a 3.89 GPA through her junior year. She was inducted into Beta Kappa Chi Honor Society and has made the Coppin State Dean’s List. Additionally, she was the Junior student of the Year for the Coppin State Honors College.

Character

Sauni is the 2015 team captain for Coppin State’s women’s volleyball team. She is also president of the Student Volunteer Corps and a student researcher for the Coppin State University Center for Organic Synthesis. Sauni is also the treasure and vice president of the STEM Club.

Community

Sauni participated in Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health internship. She has been involved with a number of organizations in various roles including the following: a member of Active Minds, volunteer with Playworks, a tutor for elementary schools in Baltimore and a volunteer for the Paralympics and Senior Olympics. She’s also assisted with Baltimore Public Schools field day and read to inner-city elementary school students.

Competition

A 2015 Preseason All-MEAC Team athlete, Sauni is the all-time leader in Coppin State history in assists with a total of 3,067. She was named third-team All-MEAC, a member of the Towson All-tournament team and to the All-MEAC Academic Team. Sauni helped Coppin State advance to the MEAC semifinals for the second consecutive season this year. She also led the Eagles with 1,164 assists, which ranked 84th nationally. She had a single-game program record 61 assists against LaSalle (8/30) and had 17 matches with 40 or more assists. She also led Coppin State to the MEAC title match for the first time in school history as a sophomore while helping Coppin State win a school record 15 matches that same year.
