Community

Daniello participates in a variety of community service projects each year. In 2008, he took part in a Relay for Life event at the Carrier Dome to benefit the American Cancer Society. Later that year, he visited the Huntington School in Syracuse during “National Young Readers Week” as part of the national “Book It!” program that encourages literacy among children. Daniello read “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Joffe Numeroff to a group of first-grade students. Following the reading session, he also answered questions from the kids. The goal of the “Book It!” program is to challenge elementary school students to read a specific number of minutes each month and they track their progress in a log that is signed by their parents.Daniello has also been active in the community through St. Mary’s Church near his hometown of Cross River, N.Y. Throughout high school and college he and other church members made “Midnight Runs” at various times during the calendar year to deliver food and clothing to the less fortunate. In addition, Daniello volunteers his time through the game of lacrosse. For the past two years, Daniello has taken part in a free youth clinic for the members of the Liverpool Youth Lacrosse Association in Central New York. As an instructor, Daniello worked with the kids on lacrosse fundamentals, including stick skills and field communication. In the summer of 2009, he teamed up with his brothers to form Primetime Lacrosse, a series of three youth teams that played summer ball near his hometown. The teams were split into three age groupings beginning with fifth and sixth graders up through high-school age players with Daniello serving as a coach. Daniello also made various appearances to help spread the word of lacrosse during the summer months. This past summer, he visited a youth league in LaGrange, N.Y. to talk about his college experience and the benefits of being a Division I student-athlete. Daniello also spoke to members of the new West Lake lacrosse program in Westchester County.

Competition

Daniello has played in 30 games during his college career thus far and enters this season as one of the team’s primary attackmen. He has 25 goals and five assists for a total of 30 career points. After scoring four goals in his first two seasons, Daniello exploded for 21 goals in 2009 to help lead Syracuse to its second straight national championship. He was the team’s fourth-leading goal scorer a year ago and had three hat tricks.
