Matt Moore

International Relations and Affairs

Moore earned his undergraduate degree in international relations and affairs at the University of Virginia last year. He is now pursuing his master’s in leadership and public policy.

Moore is a two-time Dean’s List, three-time All-ACC Academic Team, and three-time ACC honor Roll recipient. He was also named a 2021 USILA Scholar All-American.

“Moore is a thoughtful and compassionate man who has grown to become a role model of authority with his teammates. Only after careful consideration of an issue at hand does he act or share. When Moore goes into action, he does not rest until the objective is accomplished on the lacrosse field and with our team service events. And when he talks, the rest of us listen. To see him lead us as a captain is to witness a man who shares his heart too: the genuineness of his approach to all of life is easily recognized. At the heart of this all is one word: faithful.  With so many distractions and the vibrancy of youth that surrounds our student-athletes, I am astounded at how Moore blocks out the noise and gives his family, his teammates and his girlfriend his absolute focus.”
- Head Coach Lars Tiffany

Moore has volunteered his time with multiple organizations while at Virginia. He is active with Start a Spark, Prolyfyck Run Crew,  Seminole Lacrosse, and the Special Olympics 10K.

Moore has had tremendous success at Virginia and is a two-time national champion. He was named the 2018 ACC Freshman of the Year has also earned All-America honors for the last three seasons.

In Virginia history, Moore is only the fifth Cavalier to reach 100 career goals AND 100 assists. He is on pace to become the program leader in goals as he rides a 52-game point streak that dates back to his freshman year.

Moore also compares extremely well to his peers, sitting third in career games played (62), fourth in assists (111), sixth in points (232), and 11th in goals (121) amongst all active DI players.
