DeBell, an environmental science major, is on track to graduate.
Character
DeBell has been a leader since she transferred to Marshall in 2018, notably stepping up when the new coaching staff arrived the following year.
She loves getting her teammates involved in activities, either on or off the court, to help build team chemistry. DeBell seems to be permanently smiling all the time.
Community
DeBell volunteered with many different community organizations, especially before COVID-19.
Organizations that she has worked with include: the Sweetheart Clinic, Altizer Elementary Academic Motivation Talk, My Huntington West End Community Clean-up, My Huntington Guyandotte Clean-Up (area around the river), Altizer Elementary Dr. Seuss Day Reading, Woodlands Retirement Center Game Night, Altizer Elementary National Reading Month, and clean-up around campus and downtown Huntington.
Competition
DeBell has been one of the best players in program history over the last two years after transferring from Florida Gulf Coast in 2018. She has tallied 859 kills and is currently second in program history with 4.21 kills per set.
In 2019, DeBell was named to the All-Conference USA first team and was a three-time conference offensive player of the week. She also received an invitation to tryout for the USA Volleyball Women’s National Team in 2020.
During her first season with the Herd in 2018, DeBell was named to the All-Conference USA second team.
