Classroom
Through her junior year, Claire Felix is a two-time member of the UCLA Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
Character
Felix did not win a starting job at her current position of middle blocker as a freshman, playing at outside hitter. Since then, however, she has been the starting middle for the Bruins for the past two-plus seasons. Felix underwent surgery on an injury during the offseason after her junior year and has continued to flourish in her starting middle blocker role.
Community
Felix has participated in Bruin for a Day, Adopt-a-Classroom (Bruin Pen Pals), Bruin Athletic Council and Mattel’s Run/Walk. She has been a school representative for the Pac-12’s Student-Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC) and coached club volleyball for 13-year-olds. She also has been a volunteer at the Mattel Children’s Hospital, Emerson Middle School and a nursing home where she taught art classes.
Competition
Felix was named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, first-team All-Pacific South Region selection and an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honoree as a junior, leading all Bruin hitters with a .370 percentage (48th in the nation). She also ranked first on the team with 28 block solos and second with 0.97 blocks per set. Felix has improved her totals in hitting percentage, kills per set, blocks per set and block solos in each of her first three years. She also served nine aces last season.
