Hannah Tapp holds a 3.448 GPA and is set to graduate in the fall of 2017 with a degree in marketing from the Carlson School of Management. She is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-Big Ten recipient. Tapp completed her required study abroad experience in Bali during the summer of 2015.
Character
“Tapp is a very good volleyball player, a good student and brings a great leadership and energy to the team,” Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon said. “She has really embraced and understands the idea that no one can do it alone. The best players make others around them better, and Hannah really works hard at that skill. She engages her teammates to get the best out of them. She holds herself to a high standard on the court and in the classroom.”
Community
Tapp has 40 hours of community service work through M.A.G.I.C. (Maroon and Gold Impacting the Community) and has volunteered at various Playworks Functions. Tapp has been involved with StrikeOut Cancer event with Gopher baseball to raise monetary donations for LLS as well as Unlimited Dance Marathon fundraising events and the Golden Gopher Fun Thank-a-Thon. She has volunteered at the Gopher Athletics’ HopeDay Festival, an annual event that works in conjunction with the HopeKids organization and at the Masonic Children’s Hospital. Tapp also has been involved with the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and participated in Athletes in Action and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a freshman.
Competition
Tapp was selected as preseason All-Big Ten as a senior for 2016. She named an AVCA First Team All-American in 2015 and a unanimous 2015 All-Big Ten Selection. Tapp started all 35 matches in 2015 and played in all but three sets. As of nomination time, she is currently second on the team in kills (365) and points (439.5) and third on team in blocks (140). Tapp played in 30 matches, including 28 starts as a sophomore and was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team. She produced 122 kills, hit .404 and ranked second on the team in blocks (152) and blocks per set (1.28) as a rookie. She is also a two-time participant of the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team that competed in China.
