Classroom

Indy Smith has a 3.23 GPA in business administration. Last year his work in the classroom earned him the Soaring Seahawk Award, his second Seahawk Award and his third Colonial Athletic Conference Commisioners Academic Award.

Character

“Indy is the unequivocal leader of our team,” coach Aidan Heaney said. “His presence and calmness are so impressive — he leads by his actions not only on the field, but as a role model off it. He has the highest character and integrity and is a pillar of reliability.”

Community

Smith was instrumental in the team’s adoption of Connor Browning, a 6-year-old with a brain tumor, through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. Smith also leads the team in its community service efforts, including the Woodlot Project, Adopt-a-Highway, TOPS soccer clinic and recreation soccer clinics.

Competition

Smith begins 2010 on the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List. Following his junior season, Smith was honored as a third-team NSCAA All-American, first-team All-CAA and first-team NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region selection. Smith contributed to the defense that ranked 10th nationally in goals against average.
