Janae Cousineau is a midfielder at Texas A&M majoring in animal science. Cousineau holds a 3.28 GPA and plans to go to veterinarian school after graduation. Cousineau is a two-time member of the academic honor roll and was named to the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-South Region Second Team.

Character

Cousineau battled through multiple injuries that forced her to miss the first 13 games of her career at Texas A&M. Since then she has emerged as an All-Region and All-SEC player. She faced another back injury her junior year but pushed through in order to contribute in the team’s first-ever College Cup run.

Community

Cousineau is very active in beach clean up initiatives in her hometown in California. She has assisted in events such as Operation Smile (an initiative for children with cleft palates/cleft lips), and Dinner on the Street (bringing meals to the homeless in her hometown). She helped the soccer team win the Aggie Cup, rewarding the Texas A&M athletic team that is most well-rounded in the classroom, in community service and in school spirit, for three consecutive years. Cousineau participates in the soccer team’s community service initiatives which include visits to the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Hard Hats for Little Heads (a bicycle helmet program), Aggies Can (the nation’s largest canned food drive) and numerous free youth soccer clinics.

Competition

Cousineau has proven herself as a key player for Texas A&M throughout her college career. She received All-SEC Second Team and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region Third Team honors in 2014. Cousineau entered the 2014 campaign with 60 match appearances, including 49 starts. She also has eight goals and four assists for her career as a defensive midfielder. Last season she became the first Aggie to score a goal in six consecutive matches since 2002.
