Classroom

Louw was named a 2011 NSCAA Scholar All-American (3.68 GPA) and selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District VI team. Louw was tabbed the 2011 Southland Conference Student Athlete of the Year. She was also named to the Academic All-Southland Conference First-Team for a second straight season.

Character

Louw is the complete package both on the field and in the classroom. She is the hardest worker, most fit, and best leader. She literally sets the example for the entire team. If something needs to be addressed or said in the locker room, she will step in and say it. She is organized and responsible. Louw grew up in South Africa where she overcame constant obstacles expanding her game, which included poor playing environments that weren’t your typical community soccer parks and was even forced to play with boys because she was so much better than girls her age.

Community

Last summer while preparing for the Olympics in South Africa, Louw visited four underprivileged schools in the area and provided them with sports equipment and school supplies while also sharing motivational talks with the individual schools. Louw also volunteer coached at a three-day soccer clinic, which was held for underprivileged girls in South Africa who wanted to play soccer but never had the resources to do so. She helped provide a platform for them to learn basic fundamentals of the game and provided sporting gear for them to utilize for the future. She has also volunteered her time with coaching of the youth at the NYSA, coaching a U/8 boys team. She also volunteered at the recycling depot in Nacogdoches, Texas and spent a week at Raguet Primary school helping children with disabilities during their physical education. Louw volunteered in a research study being conducted by Professor Dr. Jones in the Kinesiology Department at SFA involving cold water submersion.

Competition

Louw is currently fulfilling a lifetime dream by representing South Africa in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. It marks the first time ever that South Africa has competed in the games. In collegiate play, Louw is the back-to-back Southland Conference Player of the Year and is coming off a season in which she led the Ladyjacks to their sixth-ever Southland Conference regular season championship. Louw holds the all-time SFA records in assists (29) and assists per game (0.55). Louw had an all-around year for the ages in 2011, collecting 28 points, second-best on the team, on 14 assists (school record) with seven goals and now holds the current school record for career assists (28). Louw was chosen to the NSCAA 2011 Women’s Division I All-Central Team. Louw was selected First-Team All-Southland Conference for a third consecutive season and was one of three Ladyjacks named to the Southland Conference All-Tournament Team. In 2010 she was named the Southland Conference Co-Player of the Year, one season after being selected the 2009 SLC Freshman of the Year.
