Classroom

Plum is a business administration major with a focus in sports marketing. She was recognized as a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mentions both as a junior and a sophomore.

Character

Plum has showed her passion and leadership on and off the court since the moment she came to Oregon. Plum has been a floor captain each of her four years with the Ducks and played an integral role in the team’s success. Over the past three years, she has played in each of the team’s 96 games, starting in 95 of those.  She is also one of the leaders for the Oregon Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, representing “O Heroes”, Oregon’s community outreach program. “Lauren is one of the fiercest competitors in the country,” said head coach Jim Moore. “People can see that along with her athletic ability when she is on the court. What they may not see is her tremendous compassion for others.”

Community

Plum has proven to be a leader on an off the court, serving as a Co-Direcor for O Heroes where she helps with the planning, organizing, and recruitment of volunteers for the 45 events the organization puts on over the academic calendar year. For the last two years, Plum has been in charge of the Quackin’ Action event which is O Heroes’ longest standing community event. Quackin’ Action hosts 300 K-5 students from the Springfield school districts where they learn about “Duck Core Values” such as teamwork, safety, nutrition, leadership. In addition to coordinating community events, Plum is an active volunteer. She spent time to help improve building conditions at Willamette High School as part of “MLK Day On!” in January. She has also volunteered at Polar Plunge Eugene, benefitting Special Olympics Oregon, and makes frequent trips to the Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Valley.

Competition

Plum enters the 2013 season after being selected as an AVCA First Team All-American in 2012 as well as an honorable mention All-America in 2011. As a junior last season, she led the country in assists per set (13.36) while leading the Oregon to its first NCAA finals appearance. She was recognized as All-Pac-12 and All-Pacific Region in each of the last two seasons and was named Pac-12 Setter of the year in 2012, the first Duck to earn the honor. Plum already sits atop UO’s career list in assists per set (12.30) and is on pace to shatter the career assists record, only 206 away from the current mark. She gained international experience playing with the Pac-12 All-Star Team during the 2013 summer as well as in the spring of 2011 when she was tabbed to USA Volleyball’s Junior National Team and A2 National Squad, and helped the former squad place fourth in the World Junior Championships.
