Classroom

An outstanding student-athlete at Texas, Lindsey Stephens holds a 3.399 GPA while majoring in sport management. She has been chosen twice as an All-Big 12 Conference First Team selection and reaped a nod to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. Stephens also is a six-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll inclusion and a third-team Arthur Ashe, Jr., Sports Scholar, while earning a pair of selections to the Texas Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Character

A two-year captain for the Longhorns, Stephens entered her senior season as one of the unquestioned leaders of the team and as the “captain” of the outfield by virtue of being the starter in center. She helps guide Texas softball by example through her strong work ethic both on and off the diamond. Stephens has served important leadership roles on campus, including as part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and was recently honored with the Edith and Darrell K. Royal Solid Citizen Award.

Community

Perhaps more impressive than Stephens’ on-field credentials have been her off-the-field efforts during her time on the Forty Acres. She has been involved with numerous community projects including playing baseball with children with disabilities at the Miracle League of San Antonio, working with Special Olympics and collecting toys and gifts for the Orange Santa Toy Drive. She supported breast cancer research by participating in the Austin Race for the Cure, spoke to participants and handed out awards at the Marbridge Foundation (Special Olympics) banquet and flipped pancakes to help raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation at the Texas Roundtable Pancakes for Parkinson’s event. For her efforts, Stephens has earned a Big 12 Conference Community Champion Award.

Competition

On the diamond, Stephens is a 2014 NFCA All-American and both a 2014 and 2015 NFCA All-Central Region selection. She has led the Longhorns as a power-hitting threat, posting career marks of a .344 batting average, 100 runs, 136 hits, 20 doubles, 10 triples, 32 HR’s and 120 RBIs. Stephens owns two of the top three Texas single-season HR efforts in program history (16 HR’s in 2014, 15 HR’s in 2015) and with 66 RBIs in 2014, which is tied for the all-time UT single-season RBI record. On Texas’ career charts, Stephens entered her senior year ranked second in program career history in slugging percentage (.689), and was tied for third in triples (10), seventh in batting average (.344), RBIs (120) and on base percentage (.420) and tied for seventh in HR’s (32).
