Classroom

Nick Edginton is just as committed in the classroom as he is on the pitch. He has a 3.08 GPA in Marshall’s Business Management program and is also pursuing a minor in marketing. Additionally, he has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice (2013, 2015).

Character

With a track record of leadership and fair play on the field, Edginton is one of the most respected players in Conference USA. He has been a captain of the team for the past two seasons, demonstrating a strong leadership quality on and off the pitch. Edginton is a scrappy player who will go in hard for a challenge to win his team the ball, but he also is a fair player, never resorting to dirty play. His desire for perfection during a game is evident due to his tireless style of play and the way he practices. He is truly a winner and the kind of player that any coach would love to have on his team.

Community

Edginton’s love for soccer extends far beyond playing the game. In his spare time, he serves as a coach in Marshall’s clinics, showing children of all ages the proper way to play soccer. Even though Edginton is from New Zealand, he wants to help foster the game in his adopted state, teaching the global sport to children in West Virginia.

Competition

Edginton has played in 53 career games, starting 46. He was able to gain a consistent starting role in his freshman season, starting 8 games and playing 15. He scored two goals (both game-winners) and also added an assist. In his sophomore season, he started all 19 games, scoring one goal. In his junior season, he also started all 19 games, scoring a goal and chipping in four assists. His career tally of four goals and five assists is impressive for a player that primarily plays as a central defender or central defensive midfielder. Last season, Edginton was rewarded for his stellar play by Conference USA, as he was named to the Conference USA third team by conference coaches. He also has been selected as a captain in each of his last three seasons.
